A Chicago native, Sam has always been interested in the magic of film and once he discovered editing, never turned back. Sam graduated from Columbia College and quickly found a home at Whitehouse Post where he went from runner to assistant editor and then moved to NYC in 2007. He continued his climb within Whitehouse Post in NYC and became an editor in 2012. He returned to Chicago in 2017 and continued to pursue his love of film and hone his craft. Along the way he has become a sought after visual storytelling editor and has worked around the world with agencies, clients and directors on commercials, music videos and short films. Sam has worked on major advertising campaigns for Ford, Zillow, Tylenol, Porsche, Google, YouTube, Jeep, Facebook, Walmart, New York Times and more collaborating with DDB, J. Walter Thompson, Cramer-Krasselt, Leo Burnett, Deutsch, VML/Y&R, Lifetime, McGarryBowen, and McCann to name a few. He has cut award winning music videos for Danny Brown, The Avalanches, Oliver, Neil Davidge and others. Sam has collaborated on many short films including one for the American Museum of Natural History that they currently have on display.
When he isn’t working, Sam is usually playing with his son, experimenting in the kitchen or traveling to a new country and making new friends. Check out a few of my favorite slices of life from my travels around the world. And don’t forget to drop me a note, so we can make some magic together.
The notion of directing a film is the invention of the critics — the whole eloquence of cinema is achieved in the editing room. — Osron Welles
